Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information the BarberBook app collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
- Account details: name, email address, phone number, and a profile photo if you add one.
- Booking details: shop, barber, services, date and time; for walk-ins, the client name and phone number the shop enters.
- Location: your device location while you use the app, to show nearby shops and barbers (only if you allow it); the shop location shop owners pin on the map; the work location independent barbers pin on the map.
- Reviews and photos you choose to post, and messages you send through Contact us.
- Notification token: an identifier from Google / Apple so we can send booking notifications to your device.
2. How we use it
To create and manage your bookings; to send verification codes, reminders and notifications; to show nearby shops and barbers; to answer your support messages; and to keep the app secure and improve it.
3. Who we share it with
We share booking details only with the shop and barber you book. Shop and barber profiles, their locations and reviews are public in the app. We use service providers to run the app — hosting, email delivery, push notifications (Google Firebase) and maps (Google Maps) — who process data only on our behalf. We do not sell your personal information.
4. Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS) and access controls. Passwords are never stored in plain text. If you choose “Remember me”, your sign-in details are kept encrypted on your own device.
5. Your choices
Update your details anytime from your profile. Turn notifications or location access on or off in your phone settings. You can delete your account and personal data at any time — see Delete your account.
6. Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal details are erased straight away and the account is removed permanently after 90 days. Shops keep a record of past visits without any name or contact details. See Delete your account for details.
7. Children
BarberBook is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
